SPATIAL ASSESSMENT AND RISK MAP
EASTERN SHORE NATURAL GAS COMPANY (ESNG)

Spatial Assessment of potentially eligible Environmental Justice populations and initial toxic burden screening within proposed shale gas infrastructure corridors in Maryland, Virginia. Known as the Del-Mar Energy Pathway & Somerset County Expansion Projects - while 'separate' on paper - were analyzed as one induced impact.

The proposed alignments were first digitized through a GIS technique known as georeferencing. Demographic analysis for the project corridors was conducted within R using the tidycensus package based on U.S. Census Data and EJSCREEN toxic burden variables. Statistical profiles were developed for proximate populations as well as relative toxic burden profiles. A final analysis and cartographic overview risk map was delivered for those populations in close proximity to the proposed infrastructure corridors.
